      Air Quality: Fluid Modeling

Fluid Modeling

Meteorological Evaluation Services prepared the first wind tunnel demonstration to demonstrate compliance with the US EPA Good Engineering Practice (GEP) stack height regulations in complex terrain following promulgation of that rule.  Other wind tunnel studies have involved control room habitability analyses for nuclear power plants, and studies to determine the wake effects of natural draft cooling towers on nearby structures, effluent release points and meteorological data collection activities.

Before undertaking a wind tunnel analysis, our meteorologists will explore all options available to avoid such a study, due to the high cost and the impact upon a project schedule.  Following this effort, if a fluid modeling study is required, our staff members will work with the client to select the appropriate wind tunnel, and develop a testing protocol acceptable to the regulatory authority.  MES will then supervise the tunnel testing on behalf of the client, and prepare the necessary reports.
